Homewards Bound

It’s impossible to ignore a car screaming fire and shrapnel as it smashes through your bedroom wall at three in the morning. Of course, my parents say it was my scream that woke them, or the thud as my body hit the floor, but I know they’re lying.

What the night sky sees

Moonlight filtered dimly between heavy leaves as he neared the peak, sweat sliding down his back and stinging his eyes. He blinked the moisture away, before frowning and dashing it away with a hand. The other clutched the strap of his small kit - all the tools he’d need for tonight. 

Monsoon

The pandanus on the river banks waved, not because there was a breeze but because the heat-haze shimmer made everything somehow less solid. Except for the heat and the sunlight, which were as real as a punch in the jaw.
